Small Space, Big Braap: Organizing Your 2-Bike Garage
Living in a 752 sq. ft. apartment means mastering the art of the squeeze. While the 2-bed, 2-bath layout keeps the living quarters cozy, the real magic happens in our detached one-car garage. It’s not just a parking spot; it’s the dedicated HQ for our YZ250 and YZ85.
Cramming two bikes and a mountain of gear into a standard single-car garage requires a tactical approach. Here is how we keep our "C'est la Moto" lifestyle from turning into a cluttered mess.
1. The Stationary Command Center
In a tight garage, you need a solid anchor. We use a Husky workbench/tool box we picked up from Lowe’s. Having a heavy-duty, reliable surface right there in the garage is essential for teardowns and quick fixes. It keeps all our tools centralized so we aren't hunting for a 10mm wrench when we should be out on the track.
2. The Secret to Sanity: The Gear Bag
If there is one piece of advice we can give for apartment-dwelling riders, it’s this: Stay in the bag. We use the Rocky Mountain Motocross gear bag with wheels, and it is the MVP of our organization.
No "Gear Spread": Boots, helmets, and pads stay in the bag, not on the garage floor.
Grab-and-Go: When it’s time to ride, we just roll the bags to the truck.
Neatness: The structured compartments keep the small stuff (gloves, goggles) from vanishing into the garage abyss.
3. Protecting the Perimeter
To keep the garage from getting too greasy, we laid down Rocky Mountain motorcycle garage floor mats. Not only do they make the space look like a professional factory pit, but they catch the inevitable drips from the YZs and keep the concrete pristine.
The Bottom Line: You don’t need a massive shop to maintain a 2-stroke addiction. With a heavy-duty Husky station and a dedicated gear management system, a one-car garage is plenty of room to wrench and ride.
